Brian spent his childhood years playing golf at Nashua Country Club in New Hampshire. He participated in State Junior Tournaments and played as a Member of the Nashua High Golf Squad. After graduating from the University of New Hampshire, he relocated to San Diego. Brian enjoys working with individuals of all ages and abilities. He is a Life Member of the PGA and has spent over 20 years at Private Clubs in San Diego leading individual and group instruction. His motto to play by is, “Nobody likes a slow golfer. The faster you play, the lower you score, and always leave the course in better shape than you found it.
To share his knowledge of the game, Brian then served for seven years as a Staff Instructor at the Golf Academy of America, San Diego. He has helped to educate thousands of students who go on to work in the golf industry. He was selected as the 2013 Club Fitter of the Year for the Southern California PGA Section. Lessons
There are two types of golf instructors. The first type is called a Method Teacher. They believe that everyone should swing the club the same way. To me, this is like walking into a clothing store and grabbing the first pair of pants that you see and then proceed to the checkout. My style is a Matchup Teacher. The style selected for the student is based on many factors such as body type, flexibility, and skill level.
There are many well-known styles to choose from, all of which can be quite successful. The most common methods are a One Plane Swing, a Two Plane Swing, a Stack and Tilt Swing, and a Natural Golf Swing. Each swing type has a different set of principles. The principles which suit one swing type should never be used for another swing type.
Many golfers use a blend of more than one style. The successful teacher must proceed down the correct path for their student to be successful. This, I believe is the art of teaching golf. At the end of the day, golf is a game and games are for enjoyment. Helping my students to get more enjoyment out of their game is my goal.
